Dan Duryea. Dan Duryea ( / ˈdʊri.eɪ / DUURR-ee-ay, January 23, 1907 – June 7, 1968) was an American actor in film, stage, and television. Known for portraying a vast range of character roles as a villain, he nonetheless had a long career in a wide variety of leading and secondary roles. [1]
According to a preliminary autopsy report, the actor died of cancer. Mr. Duryea's wife, Helen Bryan, died of a heart ailment in 1957 [1967]. The had two sons, Peter, an actor, and Richard, a talent manager now touring with the Beach Boys, a singing group. A funeral service will be held 12:30 P.M. Monday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
His last acting work came in the recurring form of shady conman Eddie Jacks on the popular nighttime soap serial Peyton Place (1964). Wife Helen died in January of 1967 of heart problems, and Dan followed her to the grave a year later at age 61 after being diagnosed with cancer.
