Donald James Yarmy (April 13, 1923 – September 25, 2005), known professionally as Don Adams, was an American actor and stand-up comedian. [1] In his five decades on television, he was best known as bumbling Maxwell Smart (Secret Agent 86) in the television situation comedy Get Smart (1965–1970, 1995), which he also sometimes directed and wrote.

Sep 27, 2005 · Los Angeles, CA – Actor Don Adams, who created one of the most indelible characters in television history as the star of the 1960s spy spoof Get Smart, has died. Adams, who was 82 and had been diagnosed with bone lymphoma more than two years ago, passed away at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles from complications of a lung infection.
