As of now, Helen Hunt is not set to reprise her role as Jo Thornton in Twisters. In recent years, there has been talk of Hunt being involved with a Twister sequel, although nothing has materialized to this point. Interestingly, Hunt herself tried pitching aTwister sequelto studios that would have killed off her character, and had Hunt in the director's chair, but it never got off the ground.
Each of the new cast members is featured, but Hunt is nowhere to be found.
The first trailer for Twisters does a good job providing some background for its new primary characters. Daisy Edgar-Jones's character, Kate Cooper, is subjected to plenty of tornado-related trauma, and the motivations for Glen Powell's daredevil storm-chaser Tyler Owens are explained fairly well. However, there is no sign of Helen Hunt's character Jo or any other character from the original Twister.
