Jan Smithers is an American actress and is well known for playing Bailey Quarters (Shy Character) in WKRP in Cincinnati. She first appeared in 1973 in Love Story, playing the role of Barbara. Jan’s most recent work is in the film Mr. Nice Guy, released back in 1987. These days, she prefers to live her life more quietly outside Hollywood.

Jan Smithers (born 1949 or 1950) is a former American actress. She is best known for playing Bailey Quarters on the CBS sitcom WKRP in Cincinnati (1978–1982).
Actress: WKRP in Cincinnati. One of four girls, Smithers was raised in the comfortable San Fernando Valley suburb of Woodland Hills just north of Los Angeles, CA. Her father was an attorney. While studying art at Taft High School, Smithers swerved her automobile to avoid hitting another driver and ran into a telephone pole.
