Canoe, kayak, stand up paddleboard, or aqua bike across this gorgeous 128-acre, one-mile long lake. Electric motorboats are also permitted — gas powered motors are not allowed. Note that this is a hand launch site, so boats must be hand-carried at least 50 yards to the water.

Sitting in the middle of the village of Lake Placid, it would be easy to overlook Mirror Lake as just a scenic backdrop, but take the time to fish it and you’ll soon see that there’s more than meets the eye. Best known for its rainbow trout, Mirror Lake is small enough to get around easily.
My walks around Mirror Lake usually begin at the north end of the lake, at the on-street parking near the Lake Placid public boat launch. From here, you can see both Mirror Lake and Lake Placid (the lake—which some lakeshore residents call Placid Lake, to distinguish it from the village).
The Village of Lake Placid overlooks beautiful Mirror Lake, known for its cleanliness and serenity. The lake's name comes from its calm ambience and resemblance to a mirror. When looking at the lake, you'll easily be able to see a reflection of the quaint Lake Placid Village surrounding it.
