The marriage of Kiara and Kovu was the ceremony in which Kiara and Kovu were married and formally presented to the Pride Landers as a mated couple. The event also served to represent the reunification of Simba's pride and the Outsiders.

Battle between the Outsiders and Simba's pride

Enraged by Nuka's death and Kovu's betrayal, Zira declared war against Simba, and Simba's pride and the Outsiders engaged in a vicious battle. Just as Simba and Zira were about to duel to the death, they were stopped by the arrival of Kiara and Kovu. Kiara urged Simba to end the war, a sentiment which was subsequently echoed by Vitani and the rest of the Outsiders. Zira attempted to make one last stand against Simba, but she was intercepted by Kiara. The two lionesses tumbled over the edge of the gorge, where, despite Kiara's attempts to help, Zira plunged to her death in the river below. Simba reached Kiara and helped her back up to the rim of the gorge. There, he admitted that he had been wrong about Kovu and declared that the younger lion belonged in the Pride Lands. He then invited the rest of the Outsiders to return to Pride Rock with them.

    The ceremony

At dawn, the newly-expanded pride gathered at Pride Rock, where they formed a circle. Rafiki rattled his bakora staff over the heads of Kiara and Kovu, officializing their marriage, much to the pleasure of Simba and Nala. Kiara and Kovu then joined the circle of lions, and Timon and Pumbaa burst into joyful tears. As the pride bowed, Simba, Nala, Kiara, and Kovu proceeded to the promontory of Pride Rock. Simba roared over the Pride Lands, and Kovu followed suit. Both couples then roared together. The rest of the pride roared in response, while the watching Pride Landers cheered. Simba looked up at the sky just as a ray of sun broke through the clouds. He then heard the voice of Mufasa say, "Well done, my son. We are one." In response, Simba closed his eyes and smiled.

    Legacy

Some time after the wedding occurred, a painting depicting the event was done at Pride Rock. When Kion and the Lion Guard returned to the Pride Lands from the Tree of Life, Kiara and Kovu told them of their marriage and all that preceded it, and Rafiki showed them paintings that depicted the events.
