Murder on the Campus is a 1933 American pre-Code mystery film directed by Richard Thorpe. The film is also known as On the Stroke of Nine in the United Kingdom. [1] It is based on the novel The Campanile Murders, by Whitman Chambers (Appleton, 1933). [2]
A popular young student finds herself accused of a series of murders that have occurred on the college campus. Her boyfriend, a reporter for the local newspaper, knows she didn't do it, and and sets out to prove her innocence and catch the real killer.
Bill Bartlett, an eager young newspaper reporter, witnesses Malcom Jennings' murder at the college campus campanile. He joins Captain Ed Kyne and Sergeant Lorrimer and helps them question suspects Ann Michaels, who dated Jennings; Professor C. Edson Hawley, a noted criminologist who is Ann's alibi; and his own girl friend, Lillian Voyne.
