The Seven-Per-Cent Solution: Being a Reprint from the Reminiscences of John H. Watson, M.D. is a 1974 novel by American writer Nicholas Meyer. It is written as a pastiche of a Sherlock Holmes adventure, and was made into a film of the same name in 1976.
Meyer’s sixth Sherlock Holmes novel, Sherlock Holmes and the Telegram from Hell, will be published at the end of August, 2024 by the Mysterious Press. He’s the author of seven previous novels, including The Seven-Per-Cent Solution (1974), a Doyle tale in which Sherlock Holmes met Sigmund Freud.
It was followed four months later by his Sherlock Holmes pastiche, THE SEVEN-PER-CENT SOLUTION, which remained on the NY Times Bestseller list for 40 weeks and won the British Gold Dagger award for crime fiction. Meyer's screenplay for The Seven-Per-Cent Solution was nominated for an Academy Award in 1976.
