The deadline for applying is June 5. Online lottery applications for the gun seasons are generally made available in early May. Special Allocation Lottery Applications are available online between October 1 and January 1 each year.
Lotteries. Lotteries are held to distribute licenses for the following species: deer, moose, elk, bighorn sheep, pronghorn, tundra swan and wild turkey. Information on lotteries (dates, species information, bonus points calculations, FAQs, etc.) can be found on the lottery guide page.
Deer lottery application deadline was June 5. Results should be available late June. Pronghorn lottery will open mid-July. Swan lottery will open mid-July. Fall turkey lottery will open mid-August.
May 6, 2022 · North Dakota’s 2022 deer gun season opens Nov. 4 at noon and continues through Nov. 20. Applicants for regular deer gun, gratis, youth and muzzleloader can apply online through the Game and Fish Department’s website at gf.nd.gov. The deadline for applying is June 8.
The license lottery consists of four separate drawings, one for each choice on the application. First, we hold a drawing for the first unit/first deer choice. When those are issued, we draw for the first unit/second deer choice, then the second unit/first deer choice, and finally the second unit/second deer choice.
