   Jul 2021. This is a really nice state park with great scenery and lots of amenities. The hike to Valley View overlook and Pfeiffer Falls is fairly easy (though with lots of stairs) and includes great views and a pretty cascade. There are some other nice little trails along the Big Sur River.

   • Campers park on the west side of Highway 1 and walk in to the campground (approximately 1/4 mile) across the Big Sur River on a seasonal wooden footbridge. No trailers or motorhomes can be used at this site. There are no dogs allowed at the campsite. Check in is at the Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park entrance kiosk.

   Click any photo to enlarge. Pfeiffer Big Sur has a band of small but scenic old-growth redwoods that lines the Pfeiffer-Big Sur Creek gorge and continues into the campground. The campground is on a large alluvial flat, with the biggest redwoods in the deeply shaded north end; as you go south they get smaller and there are signs of logging.
