Jones was born in Wimbledon, London, the only son of American musician-music producer Quincy Jones Jr. and his second wife, Swedish model Ulla Andersson. He grew up in Sweden with his older sister Martina after their parents legally separated.
At age 13, he got his first drum machine and started producing demos for local hip-hop acts, which eventually lead him to his first gold record at the age of 16. At that point, QDIII packed up and moved to New York City to pursue his dream to be a hip-hop producer in the US.
