Ralph Meeker (born Ralph Rathgeber; November 21, 1920 – August 5, 1988) [1] was an American film, stage, and television actor. He first rose to prominence for his roles in the Broadway productions of Mister Roberts (1948–1951) and Picnic (1953), [ 1 ] the former of which earned him a Theatre World Award for his performance.
Meeker had a featured role in the TV series "Not For Hire" (1959 to 1960). Actor. After attending Northwestern University, he marked his Broadway debut with the play "Strange Fruit" (1945 to 1946) and followed it with "Cyrano de Bergerac" (1946 to 1947).
Ralph Meeker remained a much-in-demand character actor until his death of a heart attack in August 1988.
