Visitors have flocked to Scott’s Run for years to witness the spring wildflowers that carpet the forest floor. Trailing arbutus, Virginia bluebells and sessile trillium bloom on steep hillsides and create a small oasis of rare, fragile plants.
Jun 21, 2024 · Scott’s Run Nature Preserve (also known as Scott’s Run Stream Valley Park) is one of my favorite places to hike in Northern Virginia! The park is pretty big, at about 384 acres in size, plus it features a good mix of trails in the forest, along the Potomac River, over rock scrambles, and along streams.
Tucked in a corner between 495 and Georgetown Pike is Scott's Run Nature Preserve. It has many trails and many more (and confusing) connector trails. This hike takes you from the main parking lot up to the Scott's Run Waterfall, along the Potomac River and past the secondary parking lot before returning to your car.
