The Double T, combined with Texas Tech University and the name of units (colleges, schools, departments, centers, institutes and administrative units), is called a Double T signature. The Official Seal and Signature of the Texas Tech University System are the highest-ranking elements in our identity system. They are reserved for use by TTU System offices and are used to represent the official business of the system. Learn more.

Though no one has yet stepped forward to claim credit for its design, historical evidence points to Texas Tech's first football coach E.Y. Freeland, who put the Double T logo on sweaters for the football players.
