Lori succeeds in severing Nick's leg and cauterizes the wound by heating the blade of the knife on the fire. When night falls, a pack of wolves gets attracted by the smell of blood and tries to attack them, but Lori successfully chases them off with fire and the knife.

The ending is truly thought evoking instead of cliché. It could not have ended better. I recently saw the movie "Thirst." The two movies are very similar in plot line. This movie was enjoyable. I found "Thirst" tedious and overly predictable. 22 out of 26 found this helpful. Was this review helpful? Sign in to vote. Permalink. 7/10.
Apr 11, 2010 · Completely surrounded by wolves, she decides the only thing to do is put an end to his suffering by smothering him. It's never clear if her intentions are to leave him for wolf kibble and make a run for it or if she planned on dying with him.
Just as Nick dies, a rescue helicopter spots them in the clearing and lands. Lori sits beside Nick sobbing uncontrollably. Because sometimes, the surprise “spoiler” ending is the only reason you’d pay $11 to see what is otherwise a turkey of a film.
