Oct 14, 2020 · Zulu Dawn is a fine film that portrays the workings of the Victorian British army in a wonderfully visual and realistic way. The racism underlying the whole campaign is there throughout. It deserves to be remembered as the better movie of the two.

Zulu Dawn is a 1979 American adventure war film directed by Douglas Hickox and written by Anthony Storey and Cy Endfield, based on Endfield's book of the same name about the historical Battle of Isandlwana between British and Zulu forces in 1879 in South Africa.
Zulu Dawn is a big budget prequel to the fine 1963 film Zulu which starred Stanley Baker and Michael Caine. That film concerned the freshly victorious Zulus from the battle of Isandlwana where they nearly annihilated a British army and were marching on a post at Rorke's Drift.
