Ashley later phoned Liz's radio show and anonymously vented about her failed relationship with a married man, responding to Liz's admonishment by accusing her lover's wife of being obsessed with her career. After Liz informed Ashley that the wife's career was none of her business, Ashley mentioned her lover by name--Rob, and later lashed out at Liz for being "selfish" and calling her a "self-centered bitch," before the call ended. It was at that moment that James Stratton (Rob's friend and business partner) appeared and commended Ashley as she received what was revealed to be a payout for her actions, as James was actually Kyle Lundstrom, a man who had been plotting revenge on Liz, as he blamed Liz for the accidental death of his wife, Sarah Jane Lang.

Sarah Jane had been calling Liz's show regarding Kyle, as he was immensely abusive towards his wife, leading to Sarah Jane phoning Liz and voicing her plans to leave him. An argument ensued, leading to Sarah Jane running out of the house and into the street, where she was accidentally run over and killed. Kyle blamed Liz for Sarah Jane's death and planned his revenge, and regarding Ashley, the villainess was paid by Kyle to seduce Rob and have an affair with him, as well as make her lambasting call to Liz's radio show.
