Jan 25, 2024 · Birutė (d. 1382 or around 1389) was a legendary second wife of the Grand Duke Kęstutis of Lithuania and mother of the most famous Lithuanian ruler Vytautas. She was probably born near Palanga to a Samogitian or Curonian magnate family. The story of her marriage to Kęstutis became a romantic legend in Lithuania.
