This is the second most important Jesuit monastery in Vilna after the monastery of St. Casimir. The monastery and church complex is located on a site bounded by St. Ignatius, Benedictine and Jesuit streets. It includes the Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola, a refectory and several buildings.

Dating back to 1622 when it was built by the Jesuits, this church has been remodelled, chopped and changed a great deal over the centuries. Closed in 1798 soon after Vilnius was absorbed into tsarist Russia, it was used as stables, an officers' club and, during the Soviet occupation, an art gallery.
