Sep 10, 2022 · Well, with NOB CAES or any variation thereof it can't be Constantius II. He changed from caesar to augustus in 337 so 11 years before the first falling horseman coin was struck. Any falling horsemen with caesar legends are either Constantius Gallus or Julian. For that issue Gallus used the exact legend you noted - DN FL CL CONSTANTIVS NOB CAES. SC
Constantius Gallus, a cousin of Constantius II, was made caesar at Sirmium in mid-March 351 A.D. Constantius II arranged a marriage with his sister Constantia and gave Gallus command of the Eastern provinces. Constantius II retained direct control in the West.
