Marriage, death and burial. At some time before 1433, he married Margaret Deincourt (d.1454), daughter and co-heiress with her sister Alice of John Deincourt, 12th Baron Deincourt, without children. The second creation came in 1375 when Ralph de Cromwell was summoned by writ to Parliament as Lord Cromwell. His grandson, the third baron, served as Lord High Treasurer to King Henry VI. However, on his death in 1455, the barony fell into abeyance between his nieces Maude and Joan.

He joined the household of Thomas, duke of Clarence (d. 1421), and went with the duke to France in 1410 and 1412.
