It's a complicated plot, it is as difficult for the viewer to figure out the muddle as it is for Van Johnson, but it all makes sense and reaches a logical conclusion. It is a virtuoso crime film noir with cops and killers, and there are some great dramatic highlights.

Apr 28, 2016 · With its habit of explaining every little step of the investigation in detail, Scene of the Crime isn’t quite as action-packed as it could be (or quite as memorable), but it’s still a pretty great watch with very good performances and a solid mystery story. The score: 3.5/5
