Jun 6, 2021 · With 122 metres (400 feet) in length, 60 metres (197 feet) in width and 33,2 metres (109 feet) ceiling height, it’s the largest church in Czechia and among the largest churches in Europe. Since the 10th century, St Vitus Cathedral has been the seat of the bishop of the Prague diocese (elevated to an archdiocese in 1344).
Visitors enter the Cathedral through the portal in the western facade, opposite the passage-way between the Second and Third Courtyard of Prague Castle. Its bronze door is decorated with reliefs with scenes from the history of the Cathedral and from the legends about St. Wenceslas and St. Adalbert.
