When the school hears about happening in New York, it causes a mass panic. Elliot, his wife Alma (Zooey Deschanel) fellow teacher Julian (John Leguizamo) and his young daughter Jess try to escape Philadelphia on the train. The train comes to a halt and they are stranded in the countryside.
The Happening (2008) is an M. Night Shyamalan gem that I recently rewatched on HBOMAX. The storyline follows a Philadelphia teacher who sees a viral outbreak on television that causes people to kill themselves. He tries to get his family out of the area and to safety.
