John Rolfe was an English colonist who is best known for marrying Pocahontas, the daughter of the Powhatan leader Wahunsenacawh.
The family of Rolfe was resident from an early date in the County of Norfolk, England. The immediate ancestors of John Rolfe lived at Hecahm near King's Lynn in that County, and the earliest record of the direct line is of two brothers, Robert and Eustace Rolfe, who were born at Heacham about 1539.

Disputed Parents
A prior version of this profile attached John Rolfe and Dorothy Masonas his parents, without citing any source. There doesn't seem to be any evidence that they were his parents and there does seem to be evidence that they weren't. Dorman lists no parents and says: "there is no evidence that John and Dorothy Rolfe had a son Henry, known to be a son of John in Virginia. In the Heacham family there was a contemporary Henry Rolfe, Gent.... but he is not known to have had a brother John. "
