The movie alternates sharp and observant dramatic scenes with MTV-style montages and incomprehensible sports footage. It's a miracle the underlying story survives, but it does.
Despite the overemphasis upon flashy cinematic techniques and the fragmented nature of the storyline filled with so many characters, Any Given Sunday is the best film Oliver Stone has made in years.
