- Ruth Waddy. Montgomery fostered deep relationships with artists, particularly arts advocate Ruth Waddy, whose stewardship and cultivation of Black visual art in Los Angeles in the 1960s led her to create Art West Associated, an organization that promoted the representation of Black artists in museums and galleries.
