Barry Dennen (February 22, 1938 – September 26, 2017) was an American actor and writer. He is best known for playing Pontius Pilate on the original recording and later in the film of Jesus Christ Superstar.
Barry Dennen. The Praying man was a third-class individual who boarded on the RMS Titanic Liverpool on April 10, 1912. On April 15, when the ship started sinking, he prayed for himself to survive the sinking to causing Jack to make him hurry up climbing the stern, because he was talking and slowing himself down.

The Praying Man is a minor character in the 1997 film Titanic. He is a fictional third-class passenger played by actor Barry Dennen.
He first appeared during the Titanic's final moments, where the passengers started running towards the stern. He looked terrified while praying for his safety as he slowly climbed the stairs to the poop deck, while Jack Dawson who was behind him told him to hurry up.
He was seen briefly beside Jack and Rose DeWitt Bukater when the Titanic tilted nearly 45 degrees, before later falling to his death.
