I love this album; it’s the synthesis of everything Cex had done to that point into an absolutely idiosyncratic sound that -for better or worse- makes him the ancient astronaut forefather of all the ‘emo-rap’ to come later.

On 'Being Ridden' the rough edges have been smoothed out a bit ; What remains is dry digital funk with all-American teen hysteria. Tthough not shy of experiment, CEX sticks to a storyline and even when using odd soundscapes, the cinematic appeal of 'Being Ridden' stands out.
