license is a command line tool to create LICENSE files.
It provides good defaults for name, year and project name on license (customizable if needed), and it supports all license types listed on the GitHub Licenses API and a few more. The license templates used by this program were copied from the GitHub Licenses API, when available.
Building from Source
With Go 1.16 or higher:

This program is available via the AUR under the name nishanths-license-git. Using yay, you can install it like so: WARNING: The authenticity of this method was last verified on 2021-07-04 by the maintainer(s) of the license project. Please verify before use.
Print license
To print a license to stdout, run the license command followed by the license name:
Save to file
Use the -o flag to save the license to a file, or use your shell's redirection operator:
Customize name, year and project name
The current year is used if -year is omitted.

The BSD 3-clause license allows you almost unlimited freedom with the software so long as you include the BSD copyright notice in it. "Use trademark" in this case means you cannot use the names of the original company or its members to endorse derived products.

Sep 13, 2023 · The BSD Zero Clause license removed the requirement to include a copyright statement, license text, or disclaimer in the source code, binary code or any form. The removal of these clauses creates a Public Domain equivalent license it is similar to the MIT No Attribution License.
BSD licenses are a family of permissive free software licenses, imposing minimal restrictions on the redistribution of covered software. This is in contrast to copyleft licenses like the GPL, which have reciprocity share-alike requirements.
