May 11, 2023 · While it is difficult to know what a ninja actually wore, there is a recognized uniform for ninjas that has been around for centuries. There is no real evidence to suggest that they actually wore their own uniform, but then where did the ninja uniform come from?
There are some people who think that they wore a set of peasant grade clothing. A hakama might have been worn with strips of cloth to tie make the baggy clothing tighter, especially at the knees and ankles. This would reduce noise and snagging. The hakama worn by the ninjas are more likely to be the umanori type.

They don’t have secret identities. And don’t say it’s for stealth. Those bright colors aren’t blending into squat. I'd assume it's purely for branding at this point. We did see them do an ad in Skybound so I wouldn't be surprised if the Ninja are sort of mascots for Ninjago city.

A Bit Overdressed. The concept of a ninja dressed all in black with a mask covering their face is a modern day concept. Ninjas were trained to blend in with the crowd, and someone wearing all black would stick out like a sore thumb. Anonymity was key to a ninja’s survival.
