Apr 24, 2022 · The Chicana/Chicano studies minor provides a broad overview of the historical, social, political, economic, ideological and cultural forces that shape the Chicana/o and Latina/o experience. The minor is open to all students with or without coursework in Spanish.
Brief history of Chicano/Latino/Hispanic political activity, comparisons among political modes, gendered politics, and understanding relationships among Chicano, Mexican, American and world politics. Prerequisite(s): Two undergraduate courses in Chicana/o Studies (CHI) or consent of instructor.
The Department of Chicana/Chicano Studies offers an interdisciplinary curriculum focusing on the Chicana/Chicano/Chicanx experience through an analysis of class, race, ethnicity, gender and sexuality, and cultural expression.
