"The Competition Begins" is the first episode of the first season of Dance Moms. It first aired on July 13, 2011.
Dance instructor Abby Lee Miller works with young girls to help them prepare for dance competitions; Abby has a conflict with two of the mothers when they cross the line.

Season 1 Ep.1 Review. Overall the episode is so nostalgic I miss the simple Pittsburgh dance moms days. Melissa is so cocky about Maddie but it’s in a funny way in my opinion. Mackenzie, Nia , Paige- Adorable.
