Banknotes have since 1945 been issued with the values: 5 kroner, 10 kroner, 20 kroner, 50 kroner, 100 kroner, 200 kroner, 500 kroner, and 1000 kroner. On 30 November 2023, it was announced that all banknotes issued before 2009 will no longer be legal tender as of 31 May 2025. The 1000-kroner banknote will also be phased out on the same date.
Nov 30, 2023 · The 1000-krone bill will cease to be legal tender in Denmark from May 21st 2025, the central bank, Nationalbanken, said in a statement on Thursday. The decision is made in “joint understanding” with the business minister, Morten Bødskov, according to the statement.

Nov 30, 2023 · By joint agreement with the Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs, Danmarks Nationalbank has also decided that the new series of banknotes will not contain a 1000-krone banknote. Therefore, the 1000-krone banknote will no longer be legal tender after 31 May 2025.
