Banknotes have since 1945 been issued with the values: 5 kroner, 10 kroner, 20 kroner, 50 kroner, 100 kroner, 200 kroner, 500 kroner, and 1000 kroner. On 30 November 2023, it was announced that all banknotes issued before 2009 will no longer be legal tender as of 31 May 2025. The 1000-kroner banknote will also be phased out on the same date.

Nov 30, 2023 · Denmark, where cash is seldom used, is set to withdraw 1,000 crown (approximately €134) notes, its largest denomination, from circulation by May 2025.
The 1000 kroner note 1000 kroner note. Danmarks Nationalbank issued the 1000 kroner bank note (DKK1000) on 18 September 1998 and updated on 25 November 2004. Danish artists Anna and Michael Ancher are featured on the front side of the bill.
The banknotes have been designed by the artist Karin Birgitte Lund and feature motifs of Danish bridges and archaeological finds. From 2020-2025, security-upgraded versions of the banknotes, called the 2009A banknotes, will be issued. Both the 2009 and 2009A series will be valid means of payment until the launch of the new banknote series in 2028.

Nov 30, 2023 · In preparation, older banknotes and the 1000-krone banknote will be phased out. There is still a need for cash in Denmark – also in the future. Therefore, Danmarks Nationalbank will develop a new series of banknotes. The plan is to launch the new banknotes in 2028-2029. 30 November 2023.
