In the Dark Horse comic-adaptation of Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, it was revealed that the Huntsman had "always clucked over Snow White like a dear friend", being one of the few who were truly kind towards and even protective of Snow White after the King's death and the Evil Queen took power.
The scene with the boats was filmed at Frensham Little Pond in Surrey, a location that was also used in the previous Snow White universe film. Like Waverley Abbey, this location has the advantage of being close to London and the filming headquarters at Pinewood Studios.
The Huntsman: Winters War doesn't work well as a prequel to 'Snow White and the Huntsman' due to a number of anomalies pointed out by others, mainly relating to the lack of Ravenna's brother Finn in her past and the presence of a new sister. However, treat it as a separate film and it's pretty good.
