When using Nørding Keystones in a traditional pipe, you also “lift” the tobacco a few millimetres from the bottom of the pipe bowl, preventing the tobacco from blocking the airflow in front of the draw hole.

  6. The Keystone is just Eric Nording's attempt. If those Pop Rocks can remove a bit of that steamy bite from the smoke stream then it may in fact promote that elusive cooler smoke although I suspect that the quality of the briar bowls has a lot to do with the Keystone's performance as well. In any case I just bought one for the novelty value.
