The Nørding Keystone filters help remove the humidity from the tobacco and the condensation created while smoking. When using Nørding Keystones in a traditional pipe, you also “lift” the tobacco a few millimetres from the bottom of the pipe bowl, preventing the tobacco from blocking the airflow in front of the draw hole.

The Keystone is just Eric Nording's attempt. If those Pop Rocks can remove a bit of that steamy bite from the smoke stream then it may in fact promote that elusive cooler smoke although I suspect that the quality of the briar bowls has a lot to do with the Keystone's performance as well. In any case I just bought one for the novelty value.
Erik Nørding is the maker of some of the world’s most sought-after and respected Danish freehand as well as a superb line of high grade traditionally styled briars, many with silver or gold bands. The versatile Nørding also produces several private label pipes for individual tobacconists throughout the world.
Along with a number of other carvers during the 1960s, Erik Nørding worked in the new Freehand style that emphasized organic flowing shapes and aesthetically unified stems and bowls. Nørding uses premium Corsican and Grecian plateau briar for all of the pipes made in the Nørding factory.
