    To get a job with the FBI as an entry-level agent, it's important to comply with their drug and background check policy and be a citizen of the United States. Then, to progress to the status of a special agent, they require you to have a valid driver's license, pass their physical fitness tests, meet specific vision and hearing requirements and have a clean history with the law.

    Age

    The FBI also has a mandatory retirement cutoff for special agents at 57 years of age. This means that candidates should be within the ages of 23 to 36 when applying so that they can complete the required 20 years of service necessary to retire. If you're over this age requirement, it's still possible to work for the FBI as an analyst or support staff.
