Gary Lucy is a professional artist who creates colorful canvases of 19th century life on America's Inland Waterways. He has been painting for 28 years and is known for his river and frontier themes inspired by Bingham and Benton.
Island No. 10 is located in the New Madrid bend of the Mississippi River. The painting depicts the raging battle for control of the river in 1862. Night and day the Confederate forces were bombarded by the Union ironclads and mortars. Control of the Mississippi River was a strategic element in the Civil War. Special $95.
