Abstract. Entamoeba histolytica, an anaerobic protozoan, is an important global health problem. This parasite has a biphasic life cycle consisting of a dormant cyst stage which is environmentally resistant and transmits the infection, and the proliferative trophozoite stage which is motile and causes invasive disease.

Dec 1, 2020 · The trophozoite stage will multiply by double fission or binary fission and develop into a singlenucleated precyst stage. Furthermore, from the precyst stage, the organism rounds to form...

Why is phylogenetic analysis of Entamoeba histolytica important?
Jun 3, 2020 · The life cycle of Entamoeba histolytica is relatively simple, consisting of two stages: the dormant cyst and the vegetative trophozoite . Transmission of amoebiasis begins with the ingestion of mature quadrinucleated E. histolytica cysts found in fecal-contaminated food or water (40, 133).

Feb 9, 2024 · Precyst. It is the intermediate stage that exist between trophozoite and cyst; It is smaller in size; 10-20µ; It is slightly ovoid and round with blunt pseudopodium projecting from periphery; No food material or RBC are found on its endoplasm. Trophozoites undergo encystment in the intestinal lumen.
Dec 1, 2020 · This parasite has a biphasic life cycle consisting of a dormant cyst stage which is environmentally resistant and transmits the infection, and the proliferative trophozoite stage which is motile and causes invasive disease. The stage conversion process remains poorly understood despite being central to amoebic biology.

Entamoeba histolytica occurs in the following forms, the tro-phozoites,precyst,cyst,metacyst,andmetacystictrophozoite. The trophozoite is about 10–60 μm in size with a clear finely granular cytoplasm and a spherical nucleus that shows aggre-gation of chromatin beads at the nuclear membrane and a centrally located karyosome.
