I'd go so far as to say ramp should be 10-15 cards in a deck and card draw 10 or more. Of course, you want to build some overlap, so a card like [[Llanowar Visionary]] represents both ramp and card draw (especially in a blink deck), and a [[Unstable Obelisk]] is both ramp (albeit slow) and removal.
I commonly suggest people start in a Limited format to get started with deck building because the card pool and requirement is lower. If you’re planning on building a 60 card deck, focus on 24 lands and 36 spells. Pay attention to your mana curve and don’t just throw all the “fun” cards in.
