The Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden, 127 acres (51.4 ha), is an arboretum, botanical garden, and historical site nestled into hills near the San Gabriel Mountains in Arcadia, California, United States. Open daily, it only closes on Christmas Day.
There are several small bubbling fountains in hidden areas of the garden and two very large dramatic sets of fountains one can’t miss. The L.A. County Arboretum & Botanic Garden offers concerts, nature, and gardening classes. Local plant societies hold annual shows.
The Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden serves as a sanctuary for many species of resident, migratory, and visiting birds. This 2021 list is based on the latest American Ornithologists’ Union’s Checklist of North American Birds and includes 260 species seen at the Arboretum since records have been kept (1940’s).
The Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden is a 127-acre public garden and historic site in Arcadia. The land was owned by Arcadia’s founder and first mayor, prominent businessman Elias Jackson “Lucky” Baldwin, from 1875 until his death in 1909.
The Los Angeles Arboretum and Botanic Gardens participates in the American Horticultural Society (AHS) reciprocal admissions program with exceptions of Descanso Gardens, South Coast Botanic Garden, and California Botanic Garden. On the third Tuesday of the month, admission is free. Advance reservations are required for the free tickets.
