The movie ends with a close-up on Tom Hanks' face looking at the road the "Wings" woman's car just went through. Only, I distinctly remember the movie ending with him actually getting in the car and going through that road. It's from a viewing I had less than a year ago (I hadn't really seen it from beginning to end prior to that).
No problem. If you’re interested, the script is really good and fleshed out. The part where Chuck attempts to get back to civilisation on his raft could have been an entire movie of its own. He has conversations with a sort of good/evil side of himself, and fights off sharks.
I feel crazy that I never noticed this before. Pretty interesting though. SPOILER by the way!! “Even though for most of the movie’s running time Hanks’ Noland is, indeed, alone and abandoned on an island — a castaway — the title of the film is not Castaway. It’s Cast Away (two words).
