Season 2 Finds A New Showrunner
Though news has been rather scant concerning the upcoming sophomore season, the latest update sees Based on a True Story find a new showrunner for season 2. According to Deadline, original showrunner and series creator Craig Rosenberg will step back and serve as an executive producer as newcomer Annie Weisman takes the reins for season 2. No reason for the change has been given, but considering Rosenberg's continued work on the series, the decision was likely a logistical one.
Peacock Quickly Renewed The True Crime Hit
Peacock has renewed Based on a True Story season 2, with the confirmation arriving in October 2023. The dark Kaley Cuoco comedy will once more be a Peacock exclusive. Somewhat unconventionally for Peacock, all eight episodes of Based on a True Storyseason 1 dropped at once, and it's expected that the same will be true of season 2 given that the model worked for the show.
