There's an intense chaste intimacy to their relationship in Decision to Leave. I found it powerful that Park trusted the context (taboo in more ways than one) to increase the electric nature of the relationship, rather than any sex.
I feel like the movies are different and probably comes down to personal preferences. Decision to leave gives a dreamy aftertaste when reality and dreams blur together (reminds me a bit of Murakami books), whereas Handmaiden was more clear at then end.
