Well worth a visit
- Doubletop is a lesser-known hike in the park, but is well worth a visit. The trail is extremely low-trafficked, offers stunning views of Katahdin and the outlying area, and has an awesome stream to hangout in.

3 days ago · Doubletop's prominent south peak and sheer cliffs facing the Nesowadnehunk Valley are the most striking features of the western part of the Park. The views are outstanding from its open peaks. Its trails provide excellent day hiking, among the most rewarding in the Park.
Aug 10, 2013 · Hiking Doubletop Mountain, Maine: Baxter State Park’s Best Doubletop Mountain is a gorgeous peak located just west of the more well known peaks of Katahdin. Although its not even close to being the tallest peak in the park, it is in the running for the best view!
Aug 16, 2021 · The park has a great hiking resource. Directions: You can catch the southern trail at the Kidney Pond parking area, behind the outhouse (for a slightly smelly start to your hike!). Or you can start on Slaughter Pond trail, which has a trailhead 0.7 miles up the Kidney Pond access road.
