But beyond that, it doesn't necessarily add a whole lot more -- which can be a good, or a bad thing, depending on your perspective.

  3. Assuming you mean the original show and not the remake, season 1 is the best: MacGyver was more like an exciting spy/secret mission/political intrigue show, RDA didn't have the mullet, except for the awful "bug" episode I enjoyed most all the episodes. Seasons 2-4 have their moments.

  4. Sep 15, 2016 · Jump ahead almost exactly 31 years, and paper clips prove as handy as ever, as demonstrated multiple times in CBS‘ higher-octane reboot (premiering Friday, Sept. 23 at 8/7c).

According to an interview with Slashfilm, the creators of MacGyver 2016 wanted to honor the original series, so original MacGyver Harry Dean Anderson was written a role in the reboot. Ultimately, though, Anderson declined to be apart of the series, according to The Mirror.

All you have to do is look at he new MacGyver to know that it's 2016. Not so much because his hair is great, but it's embarrassing in a totally modern way. In 30 years, you'll be able to look back on this version of MacGyverand remember exactly what was embarrassing about the 2010s.

"We try to keep it light and acknowledge that right away," star George Eads said, "Because, when I first read the pilot, the...

As Deadline reported, the character would do just about anything in the original series, but like Batman, he was against the use of guns.It seems like — give or take a rocket launcher — that the new MacGyver is the same way, though executive producer Peter Lenkov told Deadline, "if he needs a gun, he'll build one."

Now that reliable telecommunication exists, there can be a whole team on the phone with MacGyver while he's trapped with nothing but a paperclip to get him out of a jam or sneak through a locked door.

And as Lucas Till told Deadline, "They say it all the time on the show." But he acknowledged, "Angus is a pretty crappy nam...

  5. In this reboot, however, MacGyver pulls off his gizmos and escapes from bad situations in just a few seconds! No suspense, no mystery, no interest. Look, I understand that a good reboot (if there is such a thing) will put its own spin on things.

  6. I grew up loving the classic series with Richard Dean Anderson but this fresh, modern reboot has my happy approval! It's a show the whole family can watch together, emphasizing intelligence, optimism and practical science instead of guns and gratuitous violence.
