  2. Jan 12, 2024 · From 1999 to 2006, "The West Wing" was one of the most popular primetime TV dramas. From Rob Lowe to Janel Moloney, this is what the cast has been up to since.

    • Martin Sheen as Josiah Bartlet. Sheen had already portrayed a Sorkin-penned West Wing denizen in The American President (playing the chief of staff to Michael Douglas' president) when he was tapped to star as the idealistic, paternal president prone to giving speeches in The West Wing.
    • Allison Janney as C.J. Cregg. Janney played the frazzled-but-unimpeachable press secretary, a role for which she won four Emmys during the show's run. She's since gone on to continued success on TV (winning an Emmy for her role on Mom) and in movies (in films such as The Help, Juno and I, Tonya, for which she won an Oscar).
    • Rob Lowe as Sam Seaborn. Already a big star at the time the show started thanks to his Brat Pack days, Lowe portrayed the White House deputy communications director until 2003, when he left over differences with the show's writers and producers.
    • Bradley Whitford as Josh Lyman. Whitford won an Emmy for his role as the brash, somewhat neurotic deputy chief of staff. He's worked steadily in movies and television since The West Wing ended.
    • Martin Sheen (President Jed Bartlet) Sheen currently stars in the Netflix comedy Grace and Frankie alongside former West Wing costar Lily Tomlin. He also shared the screen with son Charlie Sheen in FX’s 2012-14 comedy Anger Management, and he played Uncle Ben in the 2012 blockbuster The Amazing Spider-Man.
