  2. In my movie appraisal metrics, that counts for A LOT. Water Lilies is first and foremost a coming of age story. Its focus is female sexuality first. Why did I enjoy this movie so much? The movie feels incredibly tense and provocative. It has a lot of similarities to another great French contemporary movie, Fat Girl.
