The first 10 minutes take place in Boston, but the scenes were shot near (and in) Dublin Castle. I’m not 100% sure where, but that’s what my research tells me. Dublin Castle Complex. 2. Inishmore acts as the perfect stand-in for the Dingle Peninsula shown in the movie. Moreover, Declan’s Pub in the movie is located in the quaint village of Kilmurvey near Dun Aonghasa.
- Carton House Hotel, Maynooth, Co. Kildare. Carton House is another one of the most memorable filming locations in Ireland from Leap Year. When Anna’s boyfriend, who she travelled all the way to Ireland for, finally gets down on one knee and asks her to marry him, the scene is supposed to be in a Dublin hotel lobby.
- St. Stephen’s Green, Dublin. After the wedding scene, Anna and Declan are seen walking through a beautiful park, which just happens to be St Stephen’s Green in Dublin.
- Glendalough, County Wicklow. Glendalough and the Wicklow Mountains are among the most beautiful Leap Year filming locations, not to mention Ireland’s most beautiful tourist attractions, so it is no wonder that this was the location they chose to shoot the wedding scene.

The Dingle Peninsula in the film is actually Inishmore, and ‘Declan’s Pub’ is located in the village of Kilmurvey. Leap Year’s most memorable moment, is the final proposal scene, which was also filmed in Inishmore.
